The Smoky Mountain Lodge is the only fly-in heliski lodge in the lower 48. Located west of Sun Valley and in the heart of some of our best heli ski terrain, this luxurious six bedroom lodge has all the amenities of home with the added benefit of a personal chef. We are currently offering a free stay at the Lodge when a group of 8 books two days of heli-skiing with us. Take advantage of this opportunity to balance out your heli-skiing adventure with an evening of quiet luxury. Give us a call for more details or to book a trip!
Sun Valley Heli Ski is planning to ski over the next week in a zone of its’ permit area which is seldom skied. The terrain is located on the back side of the Lake Creek and Eagle Creek Headwalls to the North and East of Ketchum. This is some of the biggest and most dramatic terrain in our permit area. Due to the remote nature of this terrain, it is likely that many runs have never been skied and first descents are a good possibility. Give us a call to talk about joining us for a heli skiing adventure.
Even though mother nature has been dropping all our snow on the mid-west, we still have great powder conditions in our Smoky Mountain Terrain to the west of Sun Valley. If you have grown tired of skiing groomers on the resort, come join us for some powder turns.
Have you been heli skiing with us and captured your memories on video? If so, show us what you’ve got! The best video wins a free day of heli skiing in 2012. The submissions are coming in, so make sure to submit your video by the end of the season to our Facebook page.
Although the recent storms largely ignored Baldy and the mountains immediately surrounding the Ketchum/Sun Valley area, terrain in our northern and western zones received much more snow. I toured on Butterfield yesterday where I found 30cm (one foot) of new, blower, pow (see …video)! The Vienna snotel site racked up over three inches of snow water equivalent since January 11th. And although the high rain line (about 8600 feet) turned Baldy in a 30 degree ice rink, in the more remote mountains, where new snow fell on top of the rain crust, we have surprisingly good skiing at and below the rain line. It’s not over-the-head blower, but if you don’t mind getting some in your lap…
